Day 2 of 12: Sacre Coeur’s Preparations. Interview with Coach Souheil Fata
Sacre Coeur is a school located in Gemayze, Beirut. They were the third division champions two years ago, and the second division champions last year. Looking back 40 years, Sacre Coeur won the Lebanese volleyball first division championship for 10 times (1953-1957, 1964-1965, 1967-1969). Since then the team was away from the first division spotlights. Being back after a long time, what surprises could the team be holding for its fans and its rivals? We did a brief interview with Coach Souheil Fata, and it went as follows.
Q: When did the team start preparations, and how many training sessions per week is the team performing?
A: We started training in mid-September 2015. The whole team is training four days a week while the foreign players have three additional morning trainings with our personal trainers: Zahi and Bechara.
Q: What are the team’s goals this year in the championship?
A: We aim at reaching the Final 8 stage.
Q: Which team do you consider to be your hardest opponent?
A: Mainly Zahra and Anwar.
Q: What are the advantages that your team has over its rivals?
A: We have our personal training court which is available for the players at any time, additionally we have a really good team spirit. We also have two personal trainers who are always helping the team.
Q: What are the latest results that your team has achieved from friendly games?
A: A 3-1 victory against Bouchrieh, 3-2 victory against Dalhoun, 3-0 defeat against Halat, 3-0 defeat against Zahra, and 3-2/3-0 defeats against Riseleh.
Q: What are your expectations for your first game this season which will be against Anwar?
A: Anwar is a good team, their Lebanese players have been playing together for a long time. It will not be a hard game, but we will give it our best shot.
