Located in North Lebanon, Kalamoun is a team which always surprises us in volleyball. The team can rank as one of the last four teams in one year, and reach the final in the next year. What has Kalamoun got hidden this year? And will they surprise us? We conducted a brief interview with Coach Kifah Kozaiha, below is what he told us.
Q: When did the team start preparations, and how many training sessions per week is the team performing?
A: The team has been training four times a week since the beginning of December 2015.
Q: What are the team’s goals this year in the championship?
A: The team aims, as a minimum, to reach the Final 8 stage.
Q: Which team do you consider to be your hardest opponent?
A: The top three teams from last year: Zahra, Anwar, and Bouchrieh.
Q: What are the advantages that your team has over its rivals?
A: The team has good reception, great attack from position 4, and we are focusing on keeping the same level of defense which is what our team is known for.
Q: What are the latest results that your team has achieved from friendly games?
A: The team’s results with 2 foreign players were: a 1-1 tie with Halat, 1-1 tie with Speedball, and our team reached the final in Elias Georges Kharma’s Memorial Cup and the result was a 3-0 defeat against Zahra.
Q: What are your expectations for your first game this season which will be against Zahra?
A: Zahra is a tough opponent, and it will be a tough game, but our team always holds surprises against champions. We got nothing to lose.
